We finally have the solution to chicken skin

Keratosis-pilaris

If you suffer from Keratosis Pilaris (those pesky little red or white bumps that form on the back of the arms and sometimes the legs), you will know how annoying it can be.

A type of eczema, the bumps are clogged pores, in which skin cells have become hardened and inflamed. Sometimes these bumps also contain an ingrown hair.

We have tried nearly every lotion and potion and nothing seemed to really rid these bumps – until our beauty ed tried the combination of an exfoliating brush, a scrub containing salicylic acid and a smoothing cream for dry, problematic skin.

Why these three products?

“Unfortunately you cannot get the Neutrogena body products in SA anymore and I love the Pink Grape Fruit range from Neutrogena. I have to cheat a bit and work with what is available, so I use the face scrub (shhhh, don’t tell). It contains salicylic acid and smells divine and all I need is a drop on the back of both arms as it spreads wonderfully. I turn on the Clarisonic and scrub for a few seconds on each arm and rinse.

Post showering, whilst my skin is still slightly damp, I rub on NeoStrata’s Targeted Problem Dry Skin Cream that helps target Keratosis Pilaris. It contains alpha hydroxy acids, which help to exfoliate the skin and soften rough, dry patches.

I have been doing this routine for over a month and can see dramatic results!”

  1. I think the salicylic acid may irritate my sensitive skin. What brands can be used for sensitive skin?

  2. I’m so glad I came across this article. I know a few people who have bumps and would benefit from this method.
