Answer

Thank you very much for your enquiry and I’m going to do my very best to help you. You have a few things that we need to treat in stages. Firstly, the sensitivity. If we are going to have any chance of sorting out anything else on your skin, we first need to get the sensitivity under control, or rather “better managed”. To be perfectly honest, in your case, I would be much more effective in helping you if you could actually come and see me, as there are a few things I need to see on your skin before being able to really give you a good prescription. I need to see if there is any redness on the skin and where it is on the face. I need to be able to see if you have dilated capillaries over the skin. I need to also have a look and see whether your marks are in fact moles, or sun spots as we need to treat these very differently. I would recommend that for a period of about one month, that we get you on to Lamelle’s Serra Range. This range is aimed at restoring the skin’s barrier function, which, in most cases, is what causes sensitivity. If we can get that under control and your skin is not feeling sensitive and uncomfortable anymore, we can then get started on treating your spots. Is there any chance you can come and see me or one of our Doctors at your nearest Skin Renewal Branch? I would love to be able to help you.

From Masoodah Ebrahim

Question

I’ve been suffering from acne my entire teen and tween years, at some point in my teens it got to a state whereby it was classified as severe acne and put on a very strong dosage of Roacuttane… thankfully it’s cleared with normal breakouts when it’s that time of the month. My main issue is I can never find a product that agrees with my skin or that actually clears up the oiliness and dry patches. Is there a skin care regiment that I can follow or a product that can help? PS: I’m exceptionally hairy as well and low threshold for pain.

I have oily skin and get breakouts, but my main concern is my pores. They are fairly noticeable and I’m really not happy with them. Will regular facials help and what kind should I do?

Question from Lizelle Lloyd

Question

Hi Dr Maureen,

I am a 31 yr old mother with very limited time for skincare routine. I have recently been diagnosed with scalp atopic dermattis and have been put on a course of antibiotics for a full month. Ive only had severe cases after all three of my pregnancies with my last one been 8 months ago. How can I prevent this from returning and what products would you recommend for my scalp-keep in mind I have very curly ethic hair making it very difficult to use some products as I need extra moisture and conditioner for my hair. I have also recently noticed a mild case of eczema on my breast-making breastfeeding quite challenging.

Please help :)
