Argan oil: the new miracle oil?

Argan oil: the new miracle oil?Over the last few weeks, all we seem to be talking about in the BeautySA office is what many are touting as the new miracle oil – argan oil. Used on your hair and body, we can’t walk down beauty isles without spotting a product that doesn’t contain it. Moisturisers, body lotions, shampoos and conditioners, hair masks and treatment oils, it’s everywhere.

But it might not be for long. Did you know argan oil is extracted from the kernels of the argan tree? And the argan tree only grows in Morocco? And these trees are now on the UNESCO endangered species list? We didn’t either.

Argan oil contains essential fatty acids, omega 6 and 9, and vitamin E, which when applied, forms a protective film over your strands. It’s primarily used on damaged or chemically treated hair to restore moisture while nourishing and strengthening from root to tip. It also treats split ends, making your hair more manageable, and can be used on wet or dry hair.

Some might find argan oil makes their hair too oily. If this is the case, simply avoid applying it to your roots and only apply from mid-strand down to the tips.

Argan oil treatments we love:
Keralong Argan Oil Serum, R90, cosmeticsandbeyond.co.za
Gosh Argan Oil, R89, exclusively at Edgars and Red Square stores

  1. I know that Moroccan Oil doesn’t have as high of a concentrate than we’d like to believe, but it still works wonders for my hair so its become a staple of mine.

  2. I only use the Moroccan oil, but the price diff is a lot…wonder if they as good… I need to stock up on much if they stop making the product….I love it

  3. I have been using Moroccan Oil for a few months now. My hair is very long so I either use 2 pumps to freshly washed hair from the neck down or apply it after I use the GHD and I swear it makes it so soft and shiny, I’m sold! It’s pricy but lasts a very long time.

  4. i have tried the morrocanoil treatment and it is amazing. worth the price. it is a heat protectant, reduces frizz, makes hair shiner and repairs it. it is amazing
