Question: Product Inquiry

Hi there, My name is Talia and I'm 21 years old. I am an Indian with a medium-light complexion. What treatment would you recommend best for dark circles around the eye? I have tried many creams from famous house brands such as Clarins but none has reduced the darkness. I would also like to know which skin product range would you recommend for me to use daily. I use Johnson Johnson's Facial wash everyday and Vaseline Intensive care body lotion on my body and face. I was afraid to try just any products on my face because I have very sensitive skin. However, I would like to start taking proper care of my face by using the appropriate moisturizer, cleanser and toner. Please could you advise me on this. Much Appreciated Talia

Answer

Hi there Talia. Thank-you for your question. I don’t want to be the bearer of bad news, but using a body lotion on your face is really not a very good idea, in fact, you may find that this is one of the reasons you are suffering with uncomfortable or irritated skin on your face. Body lotions do not often contain ingredients that are fine enough to be absorbed by the facial skin, and very often they contain fragrance which often can cause sensitivity.
Dark circles are also a challenge, and more often than not, we are able to sort this problem out by injecting dermal fillers under the eyes, or using a very active medical topical product to increase circulation and lymphatic drainage around the eye area and we more often than not have to combine this with laser and carboxy therapy. It is very unlikely that you are going get significant results for this condition by just applying a cosmetic topical product. If you are happy with your cleanser, i would suggest you keep using it, but what you have to start doing is using a daily facial sunblock (I highly reccommend Heliocare). If your skin is very sensitive, I would suggest you start off with a good, moisturising cream that is not too active, that your skin will easily adapt to and that wont give you any sensitivity or reactions, for this I highly reccommend one of the Serra moisturisers from Lamelle. So cleanser, moisturiser and SPF to start off with, and then once your skin is settled we can look at targeting specific problems, like your eye area.
