Question: What is the best heat protector for African hair?

Hi I recently purchased a ghd iv styler & I would like to know what is the best heat protectant for natural African hair. Is it advisable to iron the hair with nothing on? I did my moms & sisters hair and used bone straight, the hair did not come out like in the salons and if I iron it with a serum on it burns. The hair also does not come out very flowing and light. My cousin did my sisters hair once with no product or heat protectant &; it came out amazing, can I do my hair like this?

Answer

My first advice for heat styling is that, when buying a hot iron always buy the one with adjustable heat setting because African Hair requires low heat due to its fragile condition & yes it is very very important to use heatproof products for protection as this will prevent thermal damage & here is a list of thermal protectors ranging from professional to one that u can get from cosmetics shops

Joico K pak smoothing balm

Pantene pro-v fine

optimum care heat balm

Tresemme heat tamer

CHI-44 iron guard thermal protection

Hope this will be help people out there, keep well & thank you.
