As the weather starts to turn, you’re bound to be drawn to warm drinks throughout the day. This is the perfect time to introduce herbal teas to your diet. Herbal tea usually consists of herbs, spices, or other plant material in hot water. Free from caffeine and filled with healthy natural ingredients, herbal tea is not only tasty, but may also offer additional health benefits.

We were recently introduced to Grace Tea, a herbal tea collection rooted in ancient science. Grace Teas are designed to rejuvenate the mind, body and soul, and the brand’s foundation is centered around the principles of natural restoration and upliftment to promote holistic healing.

Grace Tea draws inspiration from ancient Ayurvedic science (native to India), and taps into centuries of wisdom and traditional healing practices to restore the body’s delicate balance, providing you with a natural pathway to well-being.

Why herbal tea?
Herbal tea is a great alternative to other hot drinks containing caffeine (coffee and other teas) and sugar (hot chocolate-type drinks). Not only is it a healthy drink free from artificial ingredients, caffeine and sugar, but the natural ingredients present in herbal teas are often selected based on their health benefits.

Grace Tea makes it easy to select herbal tea based on your body and your health concerns. Choose from a selection of eight different herbal teas specially created as a natural solution for your wellbeing:

  • Immunity tea –to support the body’s immune system.
  • Gut tea – to support the gut.
  • Heart Tea – to support the cardio system.
  • B.P. Care tea – to support the management of blood pressure.
  • Joint tea – to assist in easing joint pain.
  • Thyroid tea – to support thyroid function and well-being.
  • Sugar Balancing tea – to maintain and support blood sugar levels.
  • PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) tea – for women who need hormonal balance support, insulin regulation and menstrual support.

Simply boil fresh water and place one teabag in a cup. Pour boiled water over teabag and allow the teabag to infuse for 2-3 minutes or longer for a stronger brew.

We recently had the opportunity to try two Grace Tea variants – here’s our editor’s thoughts:

“I’m always on the lookout for healthier alternatives to coffee, and was thrilled to try Grace Teas for the first time. I chose the Immunity variant (a blend of ancient herbs known for their antioxidant protection, digestion support, as well as helping with calmness and relaxation) and the Gut variant (which promotes a healthy gut with ingredients that act as a digestive aid and support gut microbiome and hydration).

These teas are free from caffeine, sugar, preservatives and artificial ingredients – I love that they only contain natural ingredients and that the combination of ingredients in each variant was well-researched for their health benefits.

Immunity Herbal Tea contains green tea, rama tulsi, lemon tulsi, ginger and cinnamon. It has a lovely spicy flavour that reminds me a little of chai tea. We could all do with an immunity boost when winter approaches, and this is a great way of supporting our immune systems.

Gut Herbal Tea contains star anise, chamomile, lemon peel, mint leaves, fennel, turmeric, black pepper, ginger and cardomom. This combination of ingredients has the most unique flavour, and is great for anyone who battles with bloat, indigestion and other digestive issues.

I enjoyed incorporating these teas into my diet and would definitely give a few of the other variants a try, too. If you’re looking for a great quality herbal tea, I would highly recommend giving Grace Tea a try.”

All Grace Teas are available online via www.gracebeverages.co.za at R180 per pack of 20 teabags.
