Zoe and I were lucky enough to be invited to visit three fabulous beauty counters at the enormous beauty hall at Edgars in the V and A Waterfront.
First up was the luxury skincare brand La Mer. We were dead excited to try these products; who hasn’t heard of La Mer (and how expensive it is)?
The lovely Janice and Jodi smoothed all manner of delicious serums and magic potions on our thirsty faces. Zoe and I were particularly taken with the cold, ball-shaped wand with which they rolled the eye cream around our sockets. It felt soothing and cooling and marvellous. I had to keep a stern watch over Zoe who was ready to pilfer one for her own use. Can’t blame her, actually.
Next up was a Pretty Powerful Makeup Lesson with Bobbi Brown.
We love Bobbi Brown’s slogan: Be pretty, be confident, be who you are: pretty powerful.
Karien and Manolia went through the 10-step make-up lesson, showing us how to enhance our features. What I particularly enjoyed was that the make-up was subtle, so I looked like me, only better.
Once our faces were hydrated and gorgeous, we headed down to the Taste Bar at Jo Malone, where you can create a bespoke fragrance from all the different scents which they present to you. All the scents can be mixed into your signature scent – none of them will clash with any other.
From lime, basil and mandarin, to nutmeg or rhubarb, you can go wild. After choosing our individual scents, we were treated to a hand massage from the delightful Marius and Stephani.
