Tint off!

Currently there’s a lot of hype surrounding BB creams, but good old tinted moisturisers are still a firm fave. It’s summer, so swop your heavier foundations for lighter coverage that also offers sun protection. With so many tinted moisturisers on the market, we thought we’d introduce you to our top four contenders…

Tinted Off!

THE PAY-DAY BUY: Dermalogica UltraCalming Ultra Sensitive Tint SPF 30, R415

The low down: With the best of both worlds, Dermalogica’s product has a broad-spectrum sunscreen and also offers a sheer tint. It is especially good for sensitive, reactive skin.
This will suit you if: you really want to treat your skin and don’t mind spending that extra penny. If you often find your skin reacting to other products this is a winner. If sun protection is important (and it should be), you’ve got an SPF 30.

THE BECAUSE YOU CAN BUY: Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish Mineral Tinted Moisturiser SPF 15, R235

The low down: Available in three shades (light, medium, dark) Elizabeth Arden’s tinted moisturiser adds that healthy, luminous glow. It is infused with all kinds of minerals and has an SPF 15.
This will suit you if: you are already familiar with Elizabeth Arden and trust the brand. Even with sheer coverage, an SPF, and truckloads of minerals it’s small enough to fit into your beach bag – perfect for touch ups throughout the day.

THE INBETWEENER BUY: Justine Radiance Tinted Moisturiser SPF 20, R185

The low down: As part of the Colour Studio range, Justine’s tinted moisturiser will help even out your complexion and minimise the appearance of fine lines while offering an SPF 20.
This will suit you if: you have a mature skin and want to cover fine lines, but still want that sheer look. Helping your skin feel and appear more supple, it is also available in light, medium and dark shades.

THE END-OF-THE-MONTH BUY: essence My Skin tinted moisturiser, R29.95

The low down: Offering your skin a pleasant, fresh feeling and light tint, essence’s colours adapt to suit your skin tone to help ensure a natural, smooth-looking complexion. It offers you 24 hours of moisture and provides a subtle shimmer. PLUS, it has pleasant peachy smell and is available in light, medium and dark shades.
This will suit you if: you’ve broken the bank and you’re a newbie to tinted moisturisers. It’ll allow you to suss out the look and feel of a tinted moisturiser without spending too much on an ‘experimental buy’. If you don’t like tinted moisturiser, then you don’t have to feel bad, as you wouldn’t have spent too much money.

  1. Essence Tinted Moisturizer is wonderful. I’ve been using it all year. Perfect when you don’t have the time to apply foundation, when you’re just slipping out for an afternoon stroll on the beach or a quick trip to the supermarket. The scent makes you feel just peachy.

  2. I don’t like the tinted ones and R415 is a bit too hectic. A friend told me that the Justine one is really good!
