Tried and tested: The Exuviance Radiance Recovery Facial at Sorbet 1

Most of us think of Sorbet as the go-to for nails, but did you know that they also offer a variety of incredible facial treatments, including Exuviance facials and peels?

Our editor recently visited Sorbet Gardens in Cape Town to experience the Exuviance Radiance Recovery Facial, a professional treatment designed to exfoliate, hydrate, stimulate collagen production and leave skin with a radiant glow.

While she was there she was also treated to a relaxing pedi (thanks team Sorbet!) and learnt plenty about Exuviance.

“Exuviance” means “to transform”, which perfectly captures the vision of the brand. Created by the founding Dermatologist partners of the NeoStrata® Company Inc., Exuviance prides themselves on innovation and visible results. Exuviance products contain a blend of the very best in botanical ingredients, and the very best in active anti-ageing ingredients such as Alpha & Poly Hydroxy Acids, Retinol, Peptides and Neoglucosamine. Expertly developed to visibly improve skin, the products contain clinically-proven ingredients to exfoliate, moisturise and protect the skin for optimum skin health and youthful radiance.

What they say:

Exuviance Radiance Recovery Facial: This unique antiaging ritual is ideal for photodamaged skin, as well as any skin type that desires a more youthful, radiant appearance. Designed with high performance ingredients that are known to exfoliate, hydrate and target skin’s natural collagen.

What we say:

“What a treat it was to experience this Exuviance treatment at Sorbet! The whole process from start to finish was relaxing, enjoyable and luxurious. After the treatment my skin had a radiant glow – it looked plump and healthy. My therapist warned me that I may or may not experience some peeling in the days to follow, but I didn’t notice any peeling or flaking at all. My skin felt soft, supple and plump.

I had the 30 minute treatment, but there is also a longer, even more luxurious 60 minute treatment available. It is suitable for most skin types and concerns.

My treatment consisted of the following steps:

Step 1: My therapist did a double cleanse using Exuviance Gentle Cleaning Crème and Purifying Cleansing Gel to remove makeup and impurities.

Step 2: Next up she applied Exuviance Soothing Toning Lotion, which felt calming and refreshing on my skin.

Step 3: My skin was exfoliated with Exuviance Glycolic Polish, which contains both physical and chemical exfoliating agents. It was gently massaged into my skin for about 30 seconds and then left on my skin for a minute or two to continue working its magic. It didn’t feel rough on my skin at all, and my therapist explained that the physical beads are perfectly round (without jagged edges), meaning they won’t create micro-cuts on the surface of the skin.

Step 4: Next she massaged some PHA Massage Cream into my skin, before removing the excess with a warm towel.

Step 5: The peel consisted of a Booster AOX which was brushed onto my skin and after two minutes the 30% Revitalising Peel Plus solution was applied on top and left on for several minutes before it was neutralised. I felt a slight tingle in certain areas of my face but it wasn’t painful or uncomfortable at all.

Step 6: The peel was followed by a mask, which offered such an interesting sensation. The Bionic Oxygen Infusion Mask forms a thick oxygenating froth, which makes small popping sounds – almost like the popping candy we ate as kids. While it did its job I was treated to an arm and hand massage (heaven!), and after ten minutes the mask was removed.

Step 7 – 10: My therapist applied a number of Exuviance products to my skin to end off the treatment. This included the Vespera Bionic Serum, Total Correct Eye, Ultra Restorative Cream and finally, the Heliocare Oil Free Gel SPF 50 (a firm favourite).

I left Sorbet feeling relaxed, pampered and looking glowy! I’m also about to embark on an Exuviance home care regime, which I’ll share more of once I’ve had enough time to let the products work their magic.” – Anien, Editor

The Exuviance Radiance Recovery Facial is available at Sorbet salons at R530 (for a 30 min treatment) and R750 (for a 60 min treatment).

A big thank you to Sorbet Gardens for hosting us and for their attention to detail and professionalism!
