Choosing hair care that’s right for you can be extremely challenging. While the haircare industry is growing and there is no shortage of products to choose from, many brands create offerings that are either one-dimensional or super confusing.
And what if you don’t know what your hair needs? Many of us end up using products that aren’t suitable for our hair simply because we don’t know what sort of formula suits our needs best.
That’s where Being comes in. This collection was created to demystify your haircare routine with formulas tailored to your hair type. No more guessing which ingredients are best – with Being, you select the range that’s designed for your hair type.
Being’s thinking is simple. Rather than selling a product that tries to change your hair into something it’s not, why not create a range that works with each of the hair types, rather than against them? Think simple routines, fewer products and better results for all hair types and textures. Being works to destress what you have and unlock your softest, shiniest, and healthiest hair yet.
Whether your hair is curly, coarse, fine or flat, Being has a product that addresses your needs. Formulated with trichologists, the range is certified cruelty-free, dermatologically tested, free from silicones, sulphates and parabens, and housed in recyclable packaging.
Being products are available exclusively at Clicks, and our editorial team was lucky enough to try some of the products on offer.
“Despite being a beauty editor, I am one of those consumers who get stuck in the haircare aisle. I never seem to know what to buy, and I always feel like my hair doesn’t quite fit into any of the categories that most products offer.
When I first read up about Being, I was really excited about the brand’s philosophy. While most hair care products promise to change your hair into something it’s not (think perfect ‘model hair’), Being takes the opposite approach. It promises to work with – and for – your hair. Not to change it, but to enhance your natural texture and style.
I’m a low-maintenance girl, so this is right up my alley. The less time I can spend on my hair, and the more time I can spend simply ‘being’ in the moment, the better.
In the top-left corner of each Being product, you’ll see a clear indication of which hair type/texture the product is suitable for. Ranging from ‘all hair types’, all the way through to type 4C, Being caters for fine hair, thick hair, straight, curly and coily hair types.
Finding your Being routine is super simple. All you have to do is match your hair type to their selection.
If your hair is straight or fine, look for products marked Type 1A–1C.
If your hair is wavy or frizzy, look for products marked Type 2A–2C.
If your hair is curly, look for products marked Type 3A–3C.
If your hair is coily or dry, look for products labelled Type 4A–4C.
Their Nourish + Shine collection is a good baseline suitable for all hair types. This shampoo and conditioner is a great staple anyone can use before following up with more targeted styling products or masks.
I have straight hair, so I tried some 1A–1C products. Firstly, I love the packaging design. The bright and happy colours really set the brand apart, catch your eye on the shelf, and convey Being’s positive message. I also like the unusual bottle shapes. The flat tube fits nicely in my shower and doesn’t topple over as easily as round, top-heavy containers.
I also really enjoy the smell and texture of the products. My shampoo and conditioner had a sweet, slightly fruity scent that reminded me of bubble gum. It’s fresh and not overpowering, and I love that it leaves hair delicately fragranced. The textures are also really lovely. They feel luxurious but not too thick or gooey.
I felt noticeable results after the very first wash. Not only was my hair softer than usual, but it had more shine and was also more manageable. My hair tends to get frizzy in winter, but I have not experienced any frizziness since switching over to Being.
My hair feels stronger and softer, and looks healthier. I love that you can achieve all this without breaking the bank (these products are surprisingly affordable). Plus, Being allows you to eliminate the guessing game. No fancy terminology, scientific jargon or intimidating wording. Just simple hair care tailored to my hair type.
I’m so happy to have been introduced to this brand and cannot wait to try more products in the range.” Anien – Editor
