Make-up tips for beauties who wear glasses

Make-up tips for beauties who wear glasses 1
A good pair of frames can draw attention to your face for all the right reasons – and as we’ve all come to know, glasses are not only a necessity for better eyesight, it’s a pretty great fashion accessory too! If you’re part of the population who wears actual prescription specticles (as opposed to the hipsters/fashionistas), you may feel slightly unnerved or unsure how to rock make-up with your bifocals, but fret not. Here are a few tips to help you keep it specsy.

1. Eye make-up, in particular, becomes slightly trickier for first-time specs wearers. Specs tend to exaggerate dark under-eye circles by casting shadows underneath your eyes, so your concealer is about to become your new best friend. Be sure to find a shade that matches your skin tone, and blend well.

2. Select an eyeshadow in a pale, neutral shade like champagne, soft brown or nude. Matte, pearl and satin textures work the best – shimmery and glittery types are too heavy and won’t reflect light as well as a more subtle formulation. Use an eyeshadow primer to boost its staying power.

3. To make your eyes stand out, apply eyeliner (a liquid or gel formulation works best). Flex your skills along your top eyelid, as close to your lash line as possible. Extend it all the way from the inner most corner to end of your lid. Get creative and align the flick with the top corner of your glasses. Give it some practice to get the thickness just right – a thin line works best.

4. Use a volumising mascara instead of the curling varieties – you don’t want to see black specks on your erm, specs. Apply lashings of deep black mascara and allow your mascara to dry for a couple of minutes before putting your glasses on. Don’t be affraid to get your lashes did and apply the falsies. Lovely, full lashes opens your eyes and exposes more of the white area of your eyes – this not only gives you a “wide awake” look, but it also makes your peepers appear larger through your frames.

5. Next up, brow goals. Your brows frame your glasses, so they really need to be on point. Fill in those brows and shape them to perfectly complement your specs. If you’re scared you’ll get carried away and end up wth centipede brows, consult an expert to show you the ropes first.

6. The rest of your make-up depends on the style of your frames – and your personal style. If your brills are quirky or striking, you may be inclined to keep your blush and lip colour subtle, but again this is totally up to you. If you’re all about making the most of your new look, why not consider a bright lip colour? Go for a bold red or matte lippie. The classic black ‘nerd’ frames really pops with a red lip. Lastly, don’t be afraid to be yourself and rock your new look with confidence.

7. Contour and strobe as you normally would, but always try to opt for long wearing varieties as you don’t want your make-up to smudge or leave traces on your brand new brills. Now go experiment with some fun #lewks. You’ve got this!
