As seen at fashion week and on ‘cool’ kids online, one thing is clear – bright eye make-up is back and bolder than ever! Whether it’s a subtle wash of pink eyeshadow to create ‘sunset eyes’ or vivid blue liquid eyeliner, bold make-up is having a moment.
Worried that bright eyeliner will transform your daily make-up look from fresh and feminine to stuck-the-80s much? We’ve got some tips and tricks to help ease you into wearing coloured eyeliner.
1. Be yourself
If you prefer your daily make-up to be simple and clean, stick to subtle shades such as pale blues and lilacs rather than selecting the brightest eyeliner you can find.
2. Stick to what you know
Never worn liquid liner before? Then stick to classic black or brown when you attempt it for the first time. When shopping for coloured eyeliners, stick to a formula you are comfortable using such as a pencil or kohl liner.
3. Get graphic
If you love a perfect cat eye as much as we do, then you will know that the cleaner the line the more beautiful your eye make-up will look. Coloured eyeliner is no different. Keep your bold liquid or gel liner close to the lash line and create a neat line that has a slight feline flick rather than a full cat eye.
4. Keep it simple…
If you’re new to the colour make-up squad, make your bold eyeliner the main focus and keep the rest of your look simple. Pair your liner with subtle cheek and lip colours – or throw caution to the wind and do some blush draping and add your favourite lippie.#YOLO
5. Select a complementary shade
Just like you would with other eye make-up, select an eyeliner shade that suits your skin tone and eye colour. Rather than selecting a shade that is close to your eye colour, go for a complementary shade that will really make your eye colour pop.

Eyeliner is something I never go without. Try your black everyday liner with one line of a different colour. It really transforms the look.
I struggle with this so bad. I can barely do black winged eyeliner never mind colour. But practice makes perfect. It would be so cool if the website could offer tutorials? I would totally watch
