Become an expert at creating beach waves

One of the most envied hairstyles around, tousled beach waves are great because they suit everyone, regardless of your hair type, skin tone or face shape. Follow these handy tips to get yours perfect every time:

1. Sea salt spray is your new best friend.
If you haven’t already invested in a sea salt spray, now is the time to do so. Spray it onto your hair while it’s damp, and work through your lengths with your fingers. It’s best to start at the roots and work from left to right, tousling your hair all the way down to your ends. Wait for it to dry, and voilà!

2. Second best friend? Mousse.
Before your hair dries completely, you can run a little bit of mousse through it and create a few plaits. Keep them in when you go to bed, and when you wake up, carefully loosen and undo the plaits. You’ll be left with gorgeous waves!

3. Hairspray with caution.
Yes, you’ll want to use a bit of hairspray to keep the waves in for longer, but in this case, the less you use, the better. Beach waves are meant to be loose and tousled, not stiff and sticky.

4. Products we love
More and more brands are coming up with their own versions of the classic sea salt spray. We love Trevor Sorbie Styling Salt Texture Spray, R119.99 and Toni&Guy Sea Salt Texturizing Spray, R199.99.

Have you ever tried to create your own beach waves? Which products did you use?
