10 Unexpected uses for your dry shampoo

Dry shampoo is a God-send for anyone who wants an extra 20 minutes of sleep in the morning, but besides for the obvious – mattifying roots and making not-so-clean hair look clean – it has many other uses. Here are ten things you can do with your dry shampoo:

  1. Dry shampoo is great for creating volume, so double it up as a texturiser by spraying it though waves or curls.
  2. If you’re using bobby pins to secure an updo, spray them all over with dry shampoo to give them more grip and prevent them from slipping out.
  3. Roots growing out and your salon appointment is only next week? Opt for a tinted dry shampoo (similar to the shade of your coloured hair) and work it into the roots to conceal them.
  4. If your fringe tends to stick to your forehead in the summer moths, lightly spay a thin film of dry shampoo to its underside – no more sticking!
  5. Tame unruly eyebrows by spraying a tiny bit of dry shampoo onto your finger and smoothing it over the length of the brow. It does wonders to make them appear thicker, too.
  6. If you’re braiding or plaiting your hair, finish the look with a few spritzes of dry shampoo – it’ll seal in any flyaways and keep the little pieces that usually fall out, in place.
  7. Sneakers not smelling so fresh anymore? Spray their insides with dry shampoo and leave outside overnight. They’ll smell fresh as new in the morning.
  8. It’s been suggested that dry shampoo acts as a carpet shampoo too. Spray it on the carpet stain and leave for half an hour before vacuuming the area. Apparently it works wonders, but we’ve not yet tried it, so be cautious!
  9. Struggling to hold onto a bar at gym? Spray some dry shampoo onto the palms of your hands for extra grip.
  10. For some added volume, spray a bit of dry shampoo to the underside of your hair and let dry for a few seconds before you tease it or back-comb it.
