Introducing your new favourite hairdryer

Introducing your new favourite hairdryer 1

A hairdryer is a hairdryer, right? Wrong. A good hairdryer makes all the difference when styling your hair. Not only does it make styling easier, but it makes the whole process quicker and lessens your chances of heat damage.

Introducing ghd’s brand new Helios Professional Hairdryer, their lightest, faster hairdryer yet.

What sets it apart from the rest is something called Aeroprecis technology. In layman’s terms, this technology combines an internal aerodynamic design with a bespoke contoured nozzle. So the inside and the outside work together to deliver concentrated temperature and airflow distribution. This is all in aid of giving you better control when you blow dry, so you can achieve the look you’re after, much more easily, and faster.

Some of the pros include:

ghd Helios Professional Hairdryer incorporates advanced ionic technology, which reduces frizz and fly-aways, and gives you a smoother result;
The contoured nozzle gives you the ultimate control;
It’s a lightweight hairdryer with an ergonomic design, so you can hold and manage it much more easily;
It has low sound levels for a more pleasant experience;
There’s a cool shot button for a burst of cold air (to fix your look in place!);
It has a 2200 Watt brushless motor for faster drying.

“The ghd Helios Hairdryer gives you the perfect flow of air when drying to create a natural fullness, stunning shine and smoothness like no other. It’s my new kit bag essential as it’s so fast and really minimises drying time, therefore limiting damage to your hair. Remember to use the cold shot button when drying; this blast of cold air helps to lock your finished style in place,” says UK ghd ambassador, Zoe Irwin.

Our editor’s take on it:

“I use a hairdryer every time I wash my hair. I don’t often style my hair with my hairdryer anymore (now that we’re all working from home and not really seeing people, I’m embracing the messy bun), but I really hate having wet hair at night, which is usually when I wash it. This means that even if I’m not styling my hair, I always reach for my hairdryer to dry my hair, sometimes thoroughly and sometimes messily.

I was extremely excited to give the new ghd Helios a go as I heard great things and I’m a big fan of pretty much everything the brand’s ever made. My experience was as great as I imagined – this may be the best hairdryer I’ve ever used! That sounds like a big claim, but for someone who is all about efficiency, this hairdryer ticks every box.

First impressions – the design is gorgeous. A real elegant styling tool! There are four colours available, and I used the black one, which goes beautifully in my minimalist bedroom. I love how light it is; my arm doesn’t get tired mid-way through my blow dry and it’s really comfortable to hold thanks to its ergonomic design.

I was surprised by how quickly it dries my hair. I have long, very thick hair, and it only takes about ten minutes for it to dry, from start to finish! The first time I used it, I decided to style my hair. Nothing complicated, just a smooth and sleek blowout. I was really impressed by the results. Even on the hottest setting it did not get as hot as my regular hairdryer (thus minimising damage to the hair) and the nozzle helped me achieve the look I wanted in a much faster time frame than my regular hairdryer does. I have to add that it is also much quieter than what I’m used to!

Taking into account how quickly it dries the hair, how easy it makes it to achieve your desired style and the overall pleasure it is to use, this is, so far, my favourite launch of 2020.”

The ghd Helios Professional Hairdryer is available from 1 July 2020, at R2900, from fine salons and www.ghdhair.com.
